ADELAIDE, Australia -- Germany's Andre Greipel won his second consecutive stage of the Tour Down Under for his U.S.-based Team Columbia, extending his overall lead in the six-stage race.

Seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong rode near the front of the peleton throughout Wednesday's 83-mile stage between Gawler and Hahndorf in South Australia state.

Armstrong said he felt well at the end of the stage, although rising heat made the stage a tougher test than the first leg on Tuesday.

"All in all, it was not too bad," Armstrong said.

The third stage of the race will be held Thursday
